Greenstar on track to open London's biggest recycling site

Greenstar Atlas is installing the materials processing equipment at its London recycling facility and is on course to start full production in April.

The site will become the capital's largest materials processing facility and Greenstar has taken receipt of more than 70 shipping containers worth of equipment from Californian MRF specialist CP Manufacturing.

Once the equipment is installed, the 16,258sqm facility will process up to 250,000 tonnes of recyclable per year.

The company has already secured contracts with local authorities to process over 100,000 tonnes of domestic recyclables annually.

"The high speed processing capacity and output quality for Atlas will be strategically important for Greenstar and for local authorities in the capital and the south east," said Greenstar chief executive Ian Walkin.

Testing of the equipment is expected to commence in March prior to start of production in April.

Greenstar processes over 530,000 tonnes of recyclable materials annually and operates across over 40 sites in the UK.
