Chinese Releases PHA Production
2008-12-01
A Chinese company is going to make biopolymers fit for packaging next year after getting backbone from the ventures arm of Dutch life sciences group DSM.
About $20m (£10m) financing from DSM venturing has invested in Tianjin Green Bio-Science, which is expected to set up the most scaled manufacturing plant for polyhydroxyalkanoates(PHAs)due to the second quarter of 2008.
The new launched products by Tianjin Green Bio-Science are believed to be sound and suitable for pressure-sensitive adhensives and it also could be applied to food and commodity packaging implementations.
The company has so far manufactured fiber, film and lamina products based on its PHAs. With the forthcoming release, the company is supposed to make a leap in the near future.
