AB InBev-owned Carlton & United Breweries (CAB) has fitted ring pull caps instead of twist tops to its bottles of Carlton Dry alongside a packaging redesign.
As well as the updated look, Carlton Dry bottle sizes have been reduced from 355ml to 330ml. CAB said the move is to help ensure the beverage “remains one of the most affordable beers on the market, at a time of rising brewing costs and government beer excise increases”.
The bottle cap changes aim to make it more convenient to consume the 4.5% ABV beer. Carlton Dry Lime bottles will follow with these changes before the end of the year.
Carlton Dry spokesman Hayden Turner said: “In an increasingly complex world of political turmoil, financial uncertainty and coffee-infused beer with cinnamon tasting notes, people are crying out for the simple things.
“So we looked at ways to make our product even more straight forward and ring pull caps were the simple answer. Australia’s most refreshing and reliable beer is now even more uncomplicated.”
Earlier this year, CUB introduced the first non-alcoholic beer in its 180-year history. Called Carlton Zero, the launch follows a surge in demand for low- and mid-strength beers in Australia.
