The European Parliament on June 17th is going to conduct a poll on the implement of the Waste Framework Directive, which maps out Europe's measurements for dealing with waste in the near future.
The directive is projected to restrain the UK and other EU countries from increasing waste beyond its previous records. And the European Parliament has on the second time launched the project only to be objected by countries’ governments.
However, Caroline Jackson, the rapporteur behind the directive MEP, has come up with the alternative to combat the ambivalent situation. He sets up recycling half of the waste, such as the glass, paper, metal and plastic thrown out by households, and 70% of construction waste by 2020.
Some suggestions and opinions from Dirk Hazell, Environmental Services Association chief executive, claimed “Dr Caroline Jackson has secured the governments' agreement to a broad package including recycling targets. And the package will make Europe more economically and environmentally sustainable.”
