A Research Analyst Reported Beverage Packaging Trend in Thailand
2008-12-01
A packaging analyst, Huey-Ruh Koo, reported on Jun 11th at ProPak show the current beverage packaging trend in Thailand. The conclusion said that product design and packaging would be crucial for brand distinguishing and consumer appreciation.
In line with health consciousness, consumers have flocked to products that are labeled as having healthy ingredients and manufacturers have been keen on developing new products that will be positioned as ‘beneficial for consumers.’
In order to stimulate individual and home consumption, Thailand manufacturers have phased in easy opening closures and larger liquid cartons. Also, instant 3-in-1 coffee sachets in flexible packaging have been favored among its inhabitants. Soft drinking still dominates the packaging markets in beverage industries for a couple of factors. More and more efforts will be taken into rural areas where single service packs are available for on-the-go consumptions. And ‘value-for-money’ packs and multi-packs are applied to boost home consumption. When it comes to packaging types, glass bottles are expected to be prevalent and adopted widely. However, glass bottle pressure may be originated from metal beverage cans in beer and PET in soft drinks while packaging novelty is going to reign consumers’ buying decisions.
