Corrugated packaging companies join forces to form new alliance
2016-07-21

From:FoodBev

Nine independent packaging manufacturers have joined forces to form a “unique partnership” that will aim to help businesses throughout the UK and Ireland to streamline how their packaging is sourced, stored and supplied.

The CorrBoard UK Alliance offers three unique benefits to any company facing the twin challenges of complex, ever-evolving packaging requirements and the need to deliver to multiple sites, it said.

It will provide an unrivalled range of corrugated and other packaging products, designs and finishes from established independent companies; access to the whole network through a single dedicated contact at the nearest Alliance member company, guaranteeing a responsive service at senior management level; plus locations nationwide to provide storage and delivery options throughout the UK and Ireland.

It is the first such formal alliance in the UK corrugated industry and has developed from a partnership of joint investors in a new sheet feeder – CorrBoard based in Scunthorpe.

Alongside CorrBoard, the nine members include McLaren Packaging, Fencor, GWP Packaging and Dairi-Pak.

Tim Gray, owner of Shropshire-based Dairi-Pak and co-founder of the alliance, said: “We are confident that many companies will see this as an opportunity to simplify their packaging logistics whilst reaping the benefits of dealing with a collective of well-established, privately owned businesses.

“We believe we have created a model which gives purchasers unrivalled product choice and an inherently flexible, responsive service.

“It is no exaggeration to say this is a game-changer in the sector, which is why we are confidently inviting firms to ‘join the packaging revolution’.”

Colin Prior, joint owner of Challenge Packaging, added: “Challenge is proud to be part of this exciting alliance of market-leading companies, which will bring our shared core values of independence, choice and agile customer service to the CorrBoard UK Alliance. This service will give purchasers involved in complex, multi-site contracts a new robust supply alternative in the UK and Ireland.”
