Aurelius strengthens recycling arm with Regain Polymers purchase
2015-07-17

From: Packaging News

German investment group Aurelius has snapped up Plastics recycling firm Regain Polymers for an undisclosed fee.

Regain is one of the UK’s leading bespoke compounder and recycler of post-use, rigid plastics.

Founded in 1991 and operating from its only site in Allerton Bywater, near Castleford, Yorkshire, the recycler reported turnover of £31m in 2014, employing over 100 people.

This deal follows Aurelius’ December 2014 acquisition of struggling plastics reprocessing company ECO Plastics, also for an undisclosed sum.

Acquired by London-based private equity firm Chamonix in 2011, Regain specialises in the extrusion of recycled rigid plastics tailored to the exact specification of its customers, which include operators in the automotive, environmental, horticultural, packaging and construction markets.

The Company’s portfolio spans the High Density Polythylene (HDPE), Polypropylene (PP), Talc-Filled Polypropylene (PPT) and Polystyrene (PS) polymers, and clients have included RPC and AkzoNobel.

Tristan Nagler, managing director of Aurelius UK, said Regain had successfully met the evolving requirements of its clients for increasingly complex and cost-effective compounding solutions.

“We look forward to working with the Regain management team to further develop the Company’s market leading offering to take advantage of the growing demand for recycled content in plastics applications from retailers, brand owners and automotive OEMs looking to reduce the carbon impact of packaging and products.”
