Blister Revolution is Here
2015-06-12

From:Packaging Europe News

Something big is about to happen in the world of blisters. Last year, the Marchesini Group launched an investment plan involving the whole business, its products and technologies that will culminate in October 2016 with the inauguration of the most important thermoforming centre in Italy

BLISTEREVOLUTION is the name of the game and it will be previewed at ACHEMA 2015 at the Group’s stand. Experts will illustrate, to customers and journalists, the three backbones of this strategy that will allow Marchesini Group to boost its name even further as a solid and reliable partner for the blister packaging industry.

The new investments will be made in a new factory. In Carpi, near Modena (Emilia-Romagna), less than 100 kilometres from the Headquarters in Pianoro, the first stone has already been laid on what will become the first thermoforming centre in Italy by October 2016. 15 million Euro have been invested to build this new and strategic centre, where all the experts of the sector will be concentrated. The new machines of the Integra 220 and 320 lines have already revolutionised the blister packaging marketplace thanks to their special features of integration, flexibility, speed and robotics.

The advancement will be the presentation at ACHEMA of the new Integra 520V. In addition to the innovative features already introduced with the previous version, such as the new machine pitch control system via cameras and an innovative carton opening and blister insertion system, there will be an innovative pusher unit, a drum-type carton opening system to manage very high speeds and a new pick-up and insertion system of the instruction leaflet. The outcome is a line that packages 520 blisters and 500 cartons per minute: one of the fastest presently available.

New technologies is another focus of investment for Marchesini such as the development of new solutions to feed pills into blisters and the implementation of advanced part sizes thanks to a new rapid production process developed in the centre in Calderino.

Market research says that the world of blisters will continue to expand: during the five year period 2013-2018, there should be a growth of 7.6%. Growth means investments that lead to new solutions, which in turn lead to evolution. Real and strong changes however cannot be made if those who generate them do not offer strong "Made in Italy" foundations, research and innovation, staff training, social responsibility and a clear view of what the future holds. All of these features are part of the DNA of Marchesini and this time again, just like in the past, they will be the winning recipe that will contribute in redefining the worldwide blister market.
