FEMAAG to Present EOP Easy-to-Open Pack at Emballage
2014-12-01

From:packagingeurope

At the upcoming Emballage exhibition, FEMAAG will unveil as a world premiere its EOP easy opening system, intended for any product collated in packs under plastic film, with or without a cardboard tray. The EOP has been awarded the coveted ‘pack innovation’, an opportunity to showcase the product in the pack innovations area for the duration of the show.

This exhibition will be the first one for FEMAAG. Cyril Touchet, Sales Manager explains, “We are a start-up company and need to let the market know about our ground-breaking innovations. Our network in the market showed a great interest in the EOP (easy-to-open pack). Therefore, we decided to invest in order to bring our innovations to light. This will be achieved through exhibiting at Emballage and also by participating (and maybe even winning) the ‘Oscars de l’Emballage’ competition.”

EOP eliminates all the weaknesses of the existing easy opening systems and proposes at last an intuitive, convincing and reliable solution to consumers. This system can easily be integrated in any packaging line equipped with a shrink-wrapper, at a cost per pack negligible for the manufacturer.

Cyril Touchet comments, “The innovation is applicable to all products grouped into a shrink-film. Our main target market is the beverage industry. However, the more we move forward, the more we are discovering interesting markets our solution can be applied to. For instance somebody raised our attention to the fact that the EOP would be great for tissues as we do not perforate the film (thus remaining waterproof and good for packaging tissues).”

She continues, “EOP will be firstly aimed at the North American and European markets but will be available worldwide. Today, over 80% of our activity is outside of France. We have already triggered the attention of some large groups, if they wish to implement this concept it would be on a worldwide scale.”

The EOP is a truly innovative system for which a patent is pending. Its benefits include:

- No film change: EOP can be used with standard films (nature and thickness) and requires no modification of the existing graphic design.
- An original weakening method: No perforations, the film is only stamped. The weakened zone is very discreet, precisely delimited, and film’s integrity is preserved. The sturdiness of the pack before opening is thus not jeopardized.
- A well-designed opening zone: placed in the area that is intuitively perceived as the weakest of the pack, adjusted to the hand (U-shaped stamping) and designed to ensure the stability of the pack after opening.
- A flexible system: the size and place of the opening zone can be adapted to each type of pack.

An ease of opening that can be felt immediately

Lay down one’s hand on the top of the pack, press, pull, take a bottle: since the opening experience proposed by EOP can easily be compared with the one of usual packs, its benefits can be felt and quantified immediately.
A pack that stands, in the shelves and at home

With EOP, no more torn, smashed or separated packs: once opened the pack remains stable and allows individual products to be removed without having to unwrap the whole film.

A real added value for the consumer, but also for retail and catering professionals

If EOP is first intended for the end-user, it also simplifies the everyday life of retail and catering professionals that have to open and handle on a daily basis large quantities of packs made of 12, 24 units or more in order to fill shelves and vending machines.

An added feature that costs nothing

No specific film or added strip, no production slowdown, no modification of line parameters: EOP brings added value to the consumer without added costs for the manufacturer.

The easy opening system EOP will be displayed on FEMAAG’s stand in Hall 5a - Stand C096
