From:packagingeurope

The international show Emballage and The Dieline have launched a new packaging design event called The Dieline Summit in Paris, an unmissable packaging design forum set to focus on rethinking the future of packaging design.

The Dieline Summit will be an innovation event that gathers the leaders of the package design industry to discuss the issues that designers, consumers, and the world are facing. The summit will take place the 16th and 17th of November 2014, including an evening networking party, aimed at helping EMEA professionals to gain recognition and respect by articulating what design means to their brand, and their expanding role as package designers in this day and age.

The Dieline's Andrew Gibbs will gather forward-thinking designers, design leaders, and thought leaders from worldwide brands, and leading design and design firms to share case studies, discuss hot topics, and create a new dialogue on the future of consumer product design.

A networking event focusing on the question: "What is the future of package design?" will be held on Sunday, November 16th at Bar La Vue on the 34th floor of the Hyatt Regency Etoile Hotel, Porte Maillot, Paris, from 6pm to 11pm. The guest of honour, Rebecca Costa (pictured), an American sociobiologist, author and radio host, will open the conference.

On Monday, November 17th a conference day will be held at Palais des Congrès, Porte Maillot, Amphitheater Havane, level 3. The morning will start off with a welcome breakfast from 9.00am to 9.30am and then from 9.30am to 12.00pm workshops will be animated by Andrew Gibbs, Founder of the dieline.com and Fabrice Peltier, President of the National Institute of Package Design and package design expert.

Alex Center, Responsible for graphics, packaging and point of sale at Coca Cola, will be speaking at workshop one. He offers an interactive and practical insight into design at brands such as Vitaminwater, Powerade and Smartwater. Alex's expertise ranges from concept design through to bringing products to market. Before Vitaminwater was acquired by Coca-Cola in 2007, Alex actively participated in the launch of the brand and remains at the heart of its success. In 2011, Alex Center was recognised as one of the top 200 designers in the world by the magazine Lurzer's Archive.

Workshop two has speaker Mary Zalla, President of consumer brands at Landor Associates. In this role, she focuses on developing the branding of consumer products at Landor, working with key customers and consumer brands to expand and develop Landor's capacity in this area. Mary Zalla is also the CEO of the Cincinnati and Chicago offices. With 25 years' experience in design, branding, innovation, creativity and management, Mary Zalla has held several positions at Landor, until recently becoming global President.

Jonathan Ford, Founding Partner and Creative Director at Pearlfisher, will hold the third workshop. He represents International Design at Pearlfisher. It provokes and challenges the world, continually inspiring Pearlfisher to create a better future. He was at the centre of many international successes, including "Challengers and Icons", a series of #challengersandicons interviews with successful people working on iconic brands, highlighting the need to develop creativity to achieve success.

A networking lunch will be held at the Hyatt hotel between 12.00pm and 1.30pm. The three afternoon workshops will commence from 1.30pm until 5.30pm. Leeland Mashmeyer will speak at workshop four, who helps brands to accelerate their growth through design as Executive Creative Director at Collins. He has helped several brands and strengthened their image and positioning through design guidelines, in-store presence, packaging, innovative services, marketing experience, mobile apps and e-commerce sites. He also writes and publishes books on the emerging field of collaborative intelligence.

Jonathan Sands, Director of Elmwood, famous for being the man who has won the most awards in the field of design efficiency over the past 20 years will hold workshop five. The contribution he has made to the development of the profession is undeniable. In addition to having built the reputation of his consulting agency based in Leeds, with offices in London, Edinburgh, New York, Melbourne and Singapore, around the differentiating principle of efficient design, Jonathan Sands has also worked to raise awareness of both British design and the Yorkshire region, where Elmwood began.

Workshop six will be with Michael Hendrix speaking, Partner and CEO of IDEO Boston Studio. He is responsible for branding as well as being Creative and Design Director and has been recognised as an avant-garde designer since the founding of Tricycle Inc., a company focusing on sustainable development that he co-founded in 2002.
