Packaging Europe is pleased to announce its inaugural conference on pet food packaging, billed as the ’indispensable event for manufacturers of packaging for the pet food market’. The event will feature keynote speakers from leading brand owners and networking sessions, aiming to equip delegates with the best and latest thinking on the needs of the market as well as providing an environment conducive to making new contacts and doing business.

Topics to be covered during the two-day conference, to be held in London on 24-25 September 2015, including market analysis - breaking down projected European growth trends and examining shifting consumption habits, probing the question of how pet food packaging will change in an omnichannel future. In addition, it will look at product-orientated trends such as how best practice and regulation affects labelling and the preferences of consumers (and their keepers!) for various packaging formats for both dry and wet food, which is influenced by the latest R&D on nutrition. There will also be a session on how pet food packaging can reduce waste.

The pet food market has proved robust throughout the European downturn and is projected to grow substantially over the next five years. Particular growth is forecast to arise from premium and speciality products, with brands fiercely competing for market share, translating into a spike in demand for value adding packaging solutions. With an estimated 271,000,000 pets in Europe, an EU pet food market of €13.8 billion, served by 650 manufacturers, this is a large and increasingly valuable niche for the packaging industry.
