The European Plastics Recyclers Association (EuPR) plans to map out a standard quality classification scheme for recycled PET (rPET) stuff. In that way, consumers could understand the reasonable prices they should afford.
‘The main purpose of the project is that standards for rPET should be fixed in order that consumers could take appropriate steps to recycle and know that there are some grades for them to follow up,’ asserted Chairman Casper van den Dungen.
Many currently available qualities will be classified into several categories so that rPET could be more thorough. After the standard establishment, negative opinions about rPET prices will be wiped out because clearly certified products could lead to buyer-accepted prices.
"Standardizing the rPET business will stabilize it,” stated Dungen.
