UK Packaging Awards 2011: Shortlists revealed

Packaging News reveals the companies and packs in the running to win the 2011 edition of the most coveted awards in the packaging industry.

It was tougher than ever this year to choose the shortlists from more than 250 entrants to the sixth UK Packaging Awards. But the judges have made their choices and here Packaging News reveals the companies and packs in the running to win the most coveted awards in the packaging industry.

Just making the shortlists is a major achievement and Packaging News congratulates all those selected. We also thank our judges for sharing their exceptional expertise. With packaging buyers and  specifiers from some of the world’s biggest brands and retailers – including PepsiCo, Unilever, Sainsbury’s, PZ Cussons, Heinz, Waitrose and many more – this year’s panel was the event’s strongest yet.

Judging

To pick the winners, judges worked in teams, each of which considered four or five categories. They were briefed to take into account a range of aspects such as how innovative each pack was, graphics and structure, ease of use and so on. No judge was allowed to participate in discussions on packs involving their own business. For the first time this year, judges were not told the identities of the companies entering the packs until they the shortlists were chosen, ensuring they focused entirely on the packs during the judging process.

Winners will be revealed on 16 November at the industry’s biggest annual night out, a glitzy black-tie dinner that will, this year, be held at the London Hilton on Park Lane. With a celebrity host and some surprises in store, it’s sure to be bigger and better than ever.
