The competition is hotting up with interest from organisations working in all areas of the food and drink industry, eager to show their packaging concepts for the future. The challenge will take place in the Packaging Innovation Hub at Pro2Pac at London’s ExCeL from 13 – 16 March 2010, and design artwork will be showcased free of charge for entrants. Visitors to the show will be able to vote for their favourite idea and the winners in each category will then be announced on the final day.

 
Deborah Conneely, Marketing Manager at Reed Exhibitions, who run Pro2Pac said: “We have been delighted with the amount of interest the Packaging Design Challenge has generated so far. It is a great opportunity for packaging designers, manufacturers and technology providers to showcase their talents to visitors from across the food and drink industry.

 
“With increasing competition amongst food manufacturers and own-brand retailers to create packaging that entices consumers to buy their brands, the feature will no doubt be one of the most exciting elements of the show.”

 
The Design Challenge consists of three categories for participants to choose from and entries are welcomed from independent designers, manufacturers and suppliers, as well as larger organisations. The categories are:

Scenario 2: Food on the Go
Scenario 3: Luxury Food and Drink Packaging
