Mettler Toledo Safeline has unveiled a new metal detector designed to detect contaminants in bulk products.

The RB Series Profile is equipped with a detection coil and new detector head geometry. It has an aperture of 650x400mm and can detect contaminants smaller than 1.8mm in diameter.

According to David Barber, head of products at Mettler Toledo Safeline, the machine is "surpassing previous limitations with regard to inspection of bulk products".

The RB Series Profile targets processors and packagers of bulk food products. It can be configured to inspect bulk bags and sacks of granular as well as powdered products from 25kg to 50kg.

The manufacturer added that the kit can also handle dry, wet, loose or packed bulk products such as meat poultry, cheese and diary.

"Safety and quality are mission critical issues for food manufacturers and we’ll continue to develop new solutions to help our customers to achieve these objectives," said Barber.
