German confectioner installs Marden Edwards overwrapper

Marden Edwards (ME) has sold an LX100FF overwrapper to German confectioner Horst Schluckwerder to upgrade the firm's packaging operation.

Schluckwerder previously used an ME entry-level machine that it had bought two decades ago to wrap chocolates and marzipans.

Owner Rolf Schluckwerder said the firm decided it needed to increase the output speed without compromising the look of the finished carton.

"We operate at the high end of the confectionery market and our packaging needs to reflect the quality of the products," he said.

The LX100FF can wrap up to 60 cartons a minute, compared to 35 on the previous machine.

It is also designed to allow for customisation for different pack sizes and styles including an envelope-end fold and a concealed overlap on the bottom of the carton.

Different options are also available such as tear-tape application and the possibility to use uncoated paper with a cold-glue joint.

The purchase was dealt with by ME's partner in Germany Kopp Verpackungssysteme.
